# Automate Position Protection and Profit Taking

> Supersmooth Automations let Borrow and Multiply positions defend or optimize themselves with Stop Loss, Trailing Stop Loss, Auto Sell, and Auto Take Profit. Rules execute onchain against your signed parameters.

Supersmooth Automations are rules that let positions defend or optimize themselves. You define a trigger (an LTV level or a price level) and an outcome (either closing the position or adjusting it to a target LTV). Keepers monitor every oracle update. Supersmooth smart contracts execute only the configured action, and only when the trigger condition is verifiably true onchain in the execution block.

Supersmooth offers four automations on Borrow positions and Multiply positions. In version 1, automations support single-collateral and single-debt positions only. Availability follows the market support table in the Supersmooth supported protocols section of this document.

## Why use Supersmooth Automations

* **Liquidation penalties are the tax on being offline.** A venue liquidation costs a penalty, and on some venues seizes more collateral than necessary. A Supersmooth Stop Loss closes the position before the penalty exists. On Supersmooth Borrow positions, this protection executes free.
* **Remove emotion from decision making.** A stop configured on a calm Tuesday executes exactly as configured during a 15% gap on a Saturday night.
* **Defend without closing.** Supersmooth Auto Sell de-risks a falling position back to a target LTV while keeping the position open, so you survive a drawdown instead of exiting it.
* **Bank profits automatically.** Supersmooth Auto Take Profit converts rallies into repaid debt at levels you pre-committed to.

## Automation types

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Stop Loss">
    A Supersmooth Stop Loss requires you to set a trigger LTV and a close-to asset, which is either the collateral asset or the debt asset. This choice is explicit and Supersmooth applies no default. When LTV rises to the trigger, the position closes fully and atomically, and the remaining collateral is sent to your smart wallet. A Supersmooth Stop Loss lets you skip the venue's liquidation penalty entirely.

    **Worked example:** a position holds $10k of ETH collateral against $5k of USDC debt, which is 50% LTV, with liquidation at 80% LTV. You set a stop at 70% LTV, closing to USDC. ETH falls until LTV reaches 70%, the position closes, and roughly \$2.1k of USDC lands in your wallet. No liquidation penalty is paid.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Trailing Stop Loss">
    A Supersmooth Trailing Stop Loss is the only purely price-based Supersmooth automation. You set a stop price, and Supersmooth derives the trail as a percentage gap from the current price. As price makes new highs, the stop ratchets up, calculated as peak multiplied by (1 minus gap%), and the stop never moves down. When price falls to the stop, the position closes fully, using the same mechanics as a Supersmooth Stop Loss.

    **Worked example:** ETH trades at $2,000 and you set a stop at $1,800, which is a 10% trail. A rally to $3,000 lifts the stop to $2,700. On a subsequent crash, the position closes at $2,700, which is $900 per ETH above the original stop.

    A position can have only one stop type at a time. Supersmooth Stop Loss and Supersmooth Trailing Stop Loss cannot coexist on the same position.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Auto Sell">
    Supersmooth Auto Sell is the recurring soft defense that sits below your stop. When LTV rises to your trigger, Supersmooth Auto Sell sells the minimum collateral needed to bring LTV back to your target, and the position stays open. An optional minimum sell price pauses executions while price is below your floor, and pausing never cancels the automation. The Supersmooth Stop Loss backstop is never paused.

    **Worked example:** a position holds $10k of ETH collateral against $5k of USDC debt, which is 50% LTV, with liquidation at 80% LTV. You set a Stop Loss at 70% LTV, an Auto Sell trigger at 65% LTV, an Auto Sell target of 55% LTV, and a minimum sell price of $1,500. ETH falls until LTV reaches 65%, and Supersmooth sells just enough ETH to repay debt and bring LTV back to 55%. The position stays open and keeps its upside. If ETH trades below $1,500 when the trigger hits, executions pause until price recovers, but the 70% Stop Loss backstop stays live regardless.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Auto Take Profit">
    Supersmooth Auto Take Profit fires in the opposite direction from Supersmooth Auto Sell. When a rising collateral price lowers your LTV to the trigger, Supersmooth Auto Take Profit sells a slice of collateral and repays debt to the target, banking gains into a safer position. In version 1, Supersmooth Auto Take Profit runs once per setup. After execution, you must set Auto Take Profit again for the position.

## Safety rule set

Supersmooth validates automation configuration against named, contract-enforced constants at setup, on every edit, and in pre-signing simulations. Once a configuration is saved, triggers fire exactly where you set them, and the constants never move a live trigger.

| Constant | Value | Purpose |
| - | - | - |
| Noise buffer | 2pp / 2% | A trigger cannot sit so close to the current state that oracle jitter fires it instantly. |
| Execution buffer | 5pp / 5%, per market | A trigger must leave the keeper room to beat the venue's liquidation engine. A stop inside this zone would lose the race while you believed the position was protected, so Supersmooth does not allow it to be saved. |
| Order gap | 3pp | Auto Sell must trigger below the Stop Loss, so the soft defense gets its chance before the hard exit. |
| Band | 5pp | Trigger and target stay far enough apart that volatility cannot churn fees through repeated small executions. |

## Priority rules

If a Stop Loss and an Auto Sell trigger at the same time, only the Stop Loss executes, because full close wins. Any full close, whether automated or manual, cancels all remaining automations on that position. No two automations execute on the same position in the same block.

## Fees

Setting up or editing a Supersmooth automation trigger costs gas only. Supersmooth charges no subscription fees and no standing fees for automations.

| Automation execution | Supersmooth fee |
| - | - |
| Stop Loss or Trailing Stop Loss on a Borrow position | Free. Supersmooth does not monetize protection on Borrow. |
| Stop Loss or Trailing Stop Loss on a Multiply position | Position Swap Fee on the trigger swap, tiered by notional: 30 bps below $100k, 25 bps to $1M, 15 bps to $10M, 5 bps above $10M |
| Auto Sell or Auto Take Profit on either Borrow or Multiply | Position Swap Fee on the trigger swap, tiered by notional: 30 bps below $100k, 25 bps to $1M, 15 bps to $10M, 5 bps above $10M |

Supersmooth fees are withheld inside the execution transaction and shown as their own line in position history. Gas is charged to the position.

## Perpetual futures automations

Take Profit and Stop Loss are available on Hyperliquid positions through Supersmooth and use Hyperliquid's native exchange-layer order types rather than Supersmooth keeper infrastructure.
